21CC Triatloniklubi (21CC Triathlon club) goal is to welcome sport enthusiasts to try the amazing triathlon sport. Usually the biggest obstacle in joining triathlon events is the skill of distance swimming, one should be able to swim few hundred meters at least to be able to participate at a triathlon event. This is why we have created a beginners swimming course, to learn the basics of proper swimming.
During the course all participants will learn the following skills:
- how to use swimming equipment (swim goggles and swim cap, kick-board and pull buoy)
- swim training basics (warmup, drills, swimming, cool-down, stretches)
- evaluate your physical stress level during the exercise (how to measure your heart rate and what given heart rate means for your body)
- proper breathing rhythm during any chosen swimming style
- basics of front crawl technique (breathing, arm movement, leg movement, turns at the wall)
- rules of swimming in the pool (during swimming as well as at the turning wall)
Prior to getting into the water there will be verbal instructions and dry land exercises so please be on the pool deck 15 minutes in advance. It is advised to use swimming goggles and swimming cap in the pool, please bring them with already to the first lesson.
NB! Prior swimming knowledge/ability is not required!
It is not required to be 21CC Triatloniklubi member to join the course.
Course is composed of 12 lessons, lessons take place 3 times
a week and age of participants is expected to be at least 18.
