In order to succeed, triathletes have to be consistent, disciplined, healthy and positively attuned. As is the case with all endurance events, triathlon trainings also require devotion and strict order. To ensure steady improvement of one’s body it is necessary to follow and take into account one’s personal abilities when drawing up a training plan.

Triathlon offers a diverse chance to bring personal abilities to the test both in trainings and competitions. Every single competition is a unique experience due to versatility of the courses, unforseen weather conditions and special features of each distance. The suspense and excitement probably kick in the day before the competition when packing the equipment, keeping the tension up until eventually crossing the finish line.

Training

Triathletes train for different disciplines. As it is essential to be physically enduring, athletes exercise skiing, rollerskating, orienteering or multi-sporting in addition to the three main disciplines of triathlon. Improving and maintaining general physical condition is of primary importance during trainings. Gaining valuable experience through competing in various distances also contributes to the year-round development cycle.

Training capacities start from 4 hours per week. Athletes who participate in Ironman distance races train for about 10-30 hours per week. Logically, the content and capacity of the trainings depend upon the lenght of the upcoming race and the physical abilities of the athlete, as well as the frequency of exercising.

Warning: Triathlon may become your lifestyle. Consult our trainers and club members before joining the training.
